Meet Wallace Park's Coaches from Forge Tennis Academy

 

 

BRUCE STEAD -  HEAD PRO

Bruce is a Tennis Canada Certified Coach 1, the Head Pro at the Wallace Park Tennis Club, and the Director of Forge Tennis Academy. Growing up in Oakville as a multi-sport athlete, Bruce honed his tennis skills at Wallace Park as a junior while also competing in volleyball, soccer, badminton, rep hockey, and swimming. His talent and dedication to tennis led him to rank among the top 70 tennis players in Canada and earn a scholarship to NCAA Division 2 school Brevard College in North Carolina.

With over 15 years of coaching experience, Bruce has successfully worked with players of all ages and skill levels—from beginners and adult recreational players to top-ranked provincial and national juniors. Drawing from his background as a former competitive junior and college player, Bruce brings exceptional technical expertise, tactical knowledge, and competitive insight to every session on the court. What sets Bruce apart is his ability to connect with his students, adapting his coaching style to the unique needs of each player. He knows how to inspire and challenge players while keeping training sessions positive, engaging, and focused on long-term development.

Passionate about expanding the tennis community, Bruce is dedicated to fostering a love for the game from an early age. He believes that tennis can be a rewarding lifelong pursuit and strives to help his players not only excel on the court but also build confidence, discipline, and a strong sense of community. Bruce has worked tirelessly to create inclusive opportunities for all players—regardless of age, gender, or skill level—to thrive, succeed, and feel like a vital part of the tennis community. He strongly believes that tennis is a sport for everyone.

LEANNA CARPINO - ASSISTANT PRO

Leanna’s journey in tennis began at Wallace Park when she was just 5 years old. As a junior she ranked among the top 60 players in Ontario before moving on to have an impressive university tennis career at Western University. During her five years at Western, Leanna earned two provincial golds, one provincial silver, one national silver, and one national bronze. In her final two seasons she captained the team, leading them to a provincial silver and a national bronze before her second year as a captain was unfortunately cut short due to the pandemic. After her playing career, Leanna transitioned to coaching the Western team, where she and the team achieved remarkable success—winning a provincial gold, a provincial bronze, and a national silver over three years.

With 10 years of coaching experience at Wallace Park, Leanna is known for her exceptional ability to connect with young players and inspire a genuine love for tennis. Her natural talent for creating a fun, supportive, and encouraging learning environment helps her students feel confident and motivated to grow. Leanna believes in building strong relationships with her players, focusing not only on improving their tennis skills but also on teaching valuable life skills. Having recently completed her teaching degree at Western, Leanna is also excited about the possibility of taking her teaching into the classroom come September.

MARK PIECZYNSKI

Mark's tennis journey began at the age of 7 before being invited into Tennis Canada’s National Junior Training Program. As a junior, Mark reached an impressive peak ranking of #2 in Ontario. Known for being somewhat of a doubles specialist, Mark clinched a national doubles title as well as two provincial doubles titles before shifting his focus to coaching.

With his boundless energy, positive attitude, and contagious enthusiasm, Mark creates an uplifting and dynamic atmosphere that makes every practice a highlight. With 8 years of coaching experience and a background as a former top-level junior, Mark brings invaluable insight to the court and firsthand knowledge of competing under pressure to help players master the demands of the sport. This background allows him to expertly guide players in match preparation, adaptability, and mental toughness, regardless of whether they are a competitive player looking to level-up their tournament results or a casual player interested in building their confidence and working towards recreational wins.
